Picking your Omaha wedding reception venue can be very daunting! Omaha has so many choices! Ball rooms, vintage Old Market spots, Modern new spaces, and the popular barn options. How do you know what will work for your reception?
Here are some important factors to consider when choosing where the biggest party of your life will take place.
1- Capacity, how many people can comfortably fit in the space? I don’t mean the number on the plaque on the wall. Can you comfortably seat your entire guest list in the space? Will that be seating on the dance floor? Will tables need to be moved for dancing? Seriously consider your guests comfort when choosing your venue.
2- Parking. Some venue have this covered. However some of the downtown venues require your guests to use parking garages or street parking. Make sure your guests have clear directions on where they can park and if they will need to pay.
3- Caterers, some venues have an open catering option. Some have a preferred list you are required to choose from. And some only work with one. Don’t assume being able to bring in your own caterer will save you money. Your food is important if you don’t like your catering options keep looking. During your getting ready time if you are at the venue is it ok to bring in snacks or food? Don’t assume its ok. Some venues have very specific rules on food and alcohol being brought in. Check your contract and make sure you have clear communication on how that will be handled on the day of your event.
4- Rentals. Will you need to bring in everything? Do they supply tables and chairs? Do you like the chairs? Will you need linens? Consider the time and energy as well as coordinating you will have to do personally if they do not supply these things.
5- Clean up. You and your family should not be cleaning up and tearing down your reception at midnight. How much help will the venue provide? Do they have recommendations for staff you can hire to help out? Your family should get to go home after the party not still be on their feet packing up votives.
Omaha has many options for venues. Whatever your style or theme you can find what you are looking for. Do your research and consider your budget. It can take a lot of time and energy to find the right one. Start early in your planning so you have options. April-October dates fill up fast! Your planner or coordinator can really help out with this. Planners know the options in Omaha and will be able to narrow down your choices to fit within your needs.
